AL allies angry at failure to control commodity price hike

Leaders of the Awami League-led alliance on Monday reiterated their dissatisfaction at the failure of the government to control the price hikes of the essential commodities.

The leaders of the partners at a meeting of the political office of the AL president Sheikh Hasina, expressed their dissatisfactions saying the common people are suffering much to run their families facing price hikes of the essential.

Sheikh Shahidul Islam, secretary general of a Jatiya Party faction, mentioned in the meeting that the people would not cast their votes for alliance candidates in the upcoming general election if the price hikes of the essential commodities are controlled.

Emerging from the meeting, Workers Party of Bangladesh politburo member Quamrul Ahsan told New Age that the leaders of the partners also expressed their dissatisfactions over the activities of the alliance. He mentioned that the prices of rice, onion and vegetables were not controlled so far.
