BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Isalm Alamgir’s motorcade was attacked in his hometown Thakurgaon this morning, claimed the party.
Some 40-50 men attacked the motorcade at 1:00pm, Syrul Kabir Khan, a press wing staff of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, told The Daily Star.
The respected senior politician went to his hometown this morning a day after the Election Commission opened the field for Election Campaign.
Chuadanga motorcade also attacked
The Star report added: Chuadanga’s BNP candidate for the upcoming general election claims he was attacked in the district’s Alamdanga upazila last night. Sharifuzzaman, contestant from Chuadanga-1 constituency, said at a press conference that he was attacked during election campaign.
“A group of people shouted Joy Bangla slogans and attacked us in Munshiganj bazar around 9:30pm,” our Kushtia correspondent quotes him as saying.
According to him at least 10 people were hurt in the attack and two microbuses vandalised.
