Road crashes claim 23 lives in six districts on Monday

At least 18 people have died in separate road accidents in Narsingdi,Feni, Gaibandha and Mymensingh districts on Monday.

In Narsingdi, at least nine people were killed and nine others were

injured, some in critical condition, as a passenger bus collided with
a human hauler on Dhaka-Sylhet highway at Dorikandi area in Belabo upazila of the district around 8:00pm on Monday.

The identities of the deceased could not be known yet, local news agencies said. Belabo police station officer-in-charge (OC) Javed Mahmud confirmed the media about the fatal crash.

in Feni, six people were killed and eight others injured after a
cattle truck crashed into a microbus on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway at Muhuriganj area in the district.

The accident occurred in the Sultana Filling Station area of Muhuriganj at around 3:00 am on Monday, said Muhuriganj Highway Police Outpost Sub Inspector Md Mahbub Alam.

Two of the dead are children and three are women, he said. All of them are members of the same family.

The injured have been admitted to Feni Sadar Hospital and a hospital at Baroiarhat in Chattogram’s Meersarai.

 In Gaibandha, four people, including a man and his son, have died in a road accident in Polashbari upazila of Gaibandha on Monday.

The accident occurred when a bus crushed a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at Chaumatha area of the upazila on Dhaka-Rangpur Highway in the  district.

The deceased were identified as Abdul Hannan (50), his on Abdur Rahman (15),  Arjina Begum (26) and driver of the auto rickshaw Sumon. All were the residents of Gaibandha district.

Officer-in-charge of Gobindaganj Highway Police Station, Abul Basar said a Dhaka bound bus of Zarin Paribahan hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw around 4:30 pm at Chaumatha area.

 Police seized the bus but its driver managed to flee, he said.

 In Gazipur, two pedestrians were crushed under a covered van in
Konabari area of the district on Monday.

 The deceased were identified as Sadia Najnin Min (15) and Sanjida

(12). They were the residents of Kaliakoir upazila of Gazipur.
 In Sirajganj, a bus helper was killed in a road accident in
Kamarkhanda upazila of Sirajganj district on Monday.

In Mymensingh, a 20-year-old young man was killed in a road accident in Tarakanda upazila of Mymensingh on Monday.
